Born from the desire to nurture inspiration, ideas, and creativity, Opera offers a contemporary micro-gallery with an evolving program of exhibitions showcasing young, emerging local and international artists.

Our lounge on Calle Mallorca, 193 has also become a unique venue for cultural and corporate events — hosting everything from book presentations, design exhibitions, and fashion showrooms to live music, theatre, tastings, workshops, networking, team meetings and private gatherings.

EXHIBITION LAUNCH event for ILZE PREISA
With musician fredik carlquist & PROF. LOURDES CIRLOT FROM UNIVERSITY OF ARTS BARCELONA

Latvian artist, born in Riga and raised in a family of artists. Ilze
has developed a completely autonomous style of her own. By her own admission, her work has its deepest roots in art nouveau; nourished not only in her hometown, but also in Berlin, where the artist studied. The works of Preisa are a parade of beautiful women: thin and ethereal figures that appear naked or covered by thin silk skirts and transparent organdies and that hide their faces in malicious or blatant, winking or shy way. Who is hiding behind the golden masks, the plumy crests, and the open fan? The answer is the feminine, which is depicted in its deepest and sincere intimacy.

with A LIVE CELLO PERFORMANCE.

Jumarie was born in a small farming town in South Africa. Her childhood memories of long walks in pomegranate orchards with her grandmother, laughing in the sunshine, and bowls of cream and pomegranate on her farm, have been an inspiration to paint a series of artwork expressing an authentic sense of abundance inspired by the environment and beautiful nature of her home country.

Jumarie is inspired by beautiful ceramic bowls filled with fruit, but also by silver, gold, and bronze vases, delft, peonies, and birds.

Amelie Ducommun is a French-Swiss artist based in Barcelona. A graduate of ENSAD in Paris and the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, she has exhibited widely around the world and participated in major art fairs and biennials. Her work is held in several collections and institutions, including Casa Velázquez, the Miró Foundation, and NAMOC. Deeply inspired by nature, her practice explores memory, landscape, and the relationships between natural elements. Over the past decade, her work has focused on water and aquatic environments — their traces, their movement, and their shifting impact on the world around them.

Conrado López is an Andalusian visual artist. He began painting graffiti in the streets of Jerez de la Frontera, later studying Illustration at the Escuela de Arte José Nogué (Jaén). In 2016 he moved to London, where he continued his artistic training and exhibited his first works in contemporary galleries around Shoreditch and Brick Lane.

Graffiti remains one of his main influences. By merging it with traditional oil painting, Conrado creates a contemporary language that bridges urban art and classical technique, offering a vision that goes beyond the usual provocative or vandalistic clichés.

“Expansion” refers to growth and extension — and in Mareo’s work, it describes the evolution of his visual language. His paintings create carefully calibrated spaces that reflect an expanded consciousness, balancing opposites: black and white, light and shadow, matter and emptiness, the organic and the geometric. Starting from pure geometry, Mareo constructs a universe that connects sky and earth, seeking the sublime in the Kantian sense and the spiritual as a way to connect with the whole.

STRAIGHT LINE

Straight line is a very important device present in all of Marest artwork. The artist gets inspired by the architecture and the colours of Barcelona to create the palette of 25 colours and geometries with which he has worked in exclusive for this exhibition. Barcelona as a welcoming space of different cultures and civilisations is the door to enter Europe. The importance of colour has been present from the green areas to the pure concrete to the influence of its urban feel inundating the city with graffitis and murals. Marest owns up to all these items to generate the narrative of his artwork.

Finding inspiration in the quote from Jean Paul Sartre, “We can become aware of ourselves only when confronted with the gaze of another”, his artwork translates into a scrutiny of the human being, his conflicts, his core essence and existence.
Adopting the means offered by portrait, César Biojo´s artwork looks into the hidden emotions lying underneath the gaze, involving us into the piece of art as if we were being observed by the subject of the painting itself.
This is how we introduce the value of time, highlighting concepts inherent to human beings such as creation and destruction, short-lived and ephemeral.
